Job Description

Supports the financial planning and analysis function while providing finance decision support to the CARQUEST Canada leadership and capability teams. Assists in driving profitable growth by enhancing customer relationships through the innovative use of data, analytics, insights and strategy. Has ownership and accountability for providing proactive visibility, while serving as an advisor around performance management issues, strategic and operational planning, decision support and teaching financial acumen. 

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Supports the Finance Director and manages the annual budgeting process as well as the periodic and quarterly financial forecasts; identifying risks and opportunities
  • Provides experienced financial variance analysis; analyzes performance versus annual plan, current forecasts and prior year results and provides leadership with meaningful insights.
  • Produce materials for regular business reviews with key headlines, insights and actions.
  • Provides proactive visibility to potential performance management issues while serving as an advocate for business improvement.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and other key groups to understand the operational drivers that impact financial outcomes and provide decision support, business planning and financial analysis for improved decision making.
  • Develops performance management system (KPI's, dashboards, reporting etc.), focusing on utilization, productivity, profitability, and efficiency measures.
  • Develops scenarios, roadmaps, and options to drive key metrics. Provides superior financial analysis, modeling, trending, and what-if capabilities and provides support into the formulation of strategic and operating plans by guiding and performing financial analyses and providing decision support, economic analysis and modeling.
  • Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to automate, standardize, and improve financial processes, reporting, and systems.
  • Manages a professional team of Analysts to meet the financial planning and analytic needs of the business.


Qualifications Required
 

  • 7 - 10 Years' relevant experience in positions that require analysis and reporting financial results; ideally in a retail or wholesale organization.
  • Experience leading a team but comfortable rolling up sleeves and executing on tasks
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, Business Intelligence) and financial systems (i.e. Oracle, Oracle Cloud, Hyperion/Smartview and PeopleSoft).
  • Distribution knowledge/experience would be a strong asset.
  • Leader who can operate with a high degree of autonomy with strong analytical, financial, and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to connect actions to the financial outcomes and be able to clearly communicate and work cross-functionally and teach others.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and analytical skills in delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of business impact and results.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (macros, index, conditional list, arrays, pivots, look-ups).
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience
  • Professional certification (CPA)) and/or MBA relevant experience.


Compensation Range: The range of expected compensation for this role is between 90,400.00 CAD and 115,200.00 CAD salary for a new team member. The rate offered to a successful candidate depends on multiple factors, including geographic location, experience in retail, automotive knowledge, education, leadership roles, and other skillsets ideal for this position and shift differential (if applicable).
