At Penske, a Level III diesel technician is an assistant or apprentice mechanic who will perform minor repairs or component replacements and assist with the removal, replacement, and repair of major components and other tasks while being guided by a senior technician or supervisor.

Main Responsibilities:

- Remove, replace, or adjust the following components with some supervision: brakes (pneumatic and hydraulic), fifth-wheel coupler, minor electrical repairs, truck cab components and accessories, and minor maintenance on semi-trailers such as doors, wheel axle seals, etc.;
- Perform all aspects of preventive vehicle maintenance as taught during training;
- Perform other mechanical repairs and replacements as requested by a Level I or II technician—or while assisting them—or by a senior technician or supervisor as part of your overall training;
- Perform all customer service-related tasks as needed;
- Pick up and deliver vehicles;
- Keep the work area clean and safe;
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power and pneumatic tools such as air impact wrenches, welding equipment, lifting jacks, and electric winches;
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication of equipment and machinery;
- Adjust and replace brakes, tighten bolts and nuts, and reassemble equipment;
- Jack up or lift trucks and buses, heavy parts, or heavy equipment using hydraulic jacks or winches;
- Perform other tasks and projects assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Preference for 1–2 years of hands-on experience in vehicle or truck repair;
- Training in heavy-duty vehicle mechanics or any other training deemed relevant;
- Must know how to use hand tools;
- Class 5 driver’s license; preference for a Class 3 license. However, you must be able to obtain a Class 3 license within 6 months of hire;
- Preference for basic computer skills to enter data into the
- Regular, predictable, and full attendance is an essential aspect of the job
- The candidate agrees to travel within the district (customer yards, immediate geographic area, and training locations), to work according to the required schedule and at the required location, to complete the Penske job application form, and to undergo a reference check (including previous employment and academic background).

- The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move loads weighing up to 12 kg / 25 lb, frequently lift and/or move loads weighing up to 23 kg / 51 lb, and occasionally lift and/or move loads weighing up to 45 kg / 100 lb.
- This position requires the ability to see up close, see at a distance, have good peripheral vision, perceive depth of field, and adjust focus.
- While performing the duties associated with this position, the associate must regularly stand, walk, and sit, as well as speak and listen. He or she must also frequently use his or her hands and arms to touch, feel, manipulate, and reach.
