Position summary:
As a Toyota Certified Technician, you will diagnose issues, perform repairs, and carry out preventive maintenance on material handling equipment at customer sites.
Responsibilities:
- Perform repairs and maintenance on a variety of material handling equipment and components, including forklifts, stackers, electric pallet trucks, electric tow tractors, and carriers;
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on material handling equipment and related components;
- Use digital voltmeters, electronic service manuals, and diagnostic software to troubleshoot and repair equipment;
- Diagnose electrical and electronic system issues;
- Use service manuals and wiring diagrams to diagnose electrical components and wiring;
- Verify completed work and return equipment to customers in clean, safe operating condition;
- Ensure customer work areas are left clean and free of debris, oil, and grease;
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- College Diploma, trade school Certificate, or equivalent work experience;
- 3 to 5 years of experience as an automotive, forklift, heavy equipment, or truck and coach technician;
- Valid driver's licence required.
Skills and qualifications:
- Proven knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on electric and internal combustion material handling equipment;
- Strong understanding of electrical and electronic fundamentals;
- Experience using hand tools and measuring instruments;
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic diagnostic tools and testing procedures;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Strong customer service skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
Working conditions:
As a Field Service Technician, you will work in a variety of customer environments, including warehouses, workshops, parking lots, and other industrial settings. These environments may involve varying temperatures, dust, dirt, grease, and moderate to high noise levels. The role frequently requires working in crouched positions or lying on a mechanic's creeper beneath equipment. Candidates must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lb.
