At Penske, a Level III Diesel Technician is an entry-level mechanic or apprentice who performs minor repairs or component replacements and assists with the removal, replacement, and repair of major components and other tasks while being guided by a senior technician or supervisor.

Main Responsibilities:
• Remove, replace, or adjust the following components with some supervision: brakes (air and hydraulic), fifth wheels, minor electrical repairs, truck cab components and accessories, minor semi-trailer maintenance such as doors, axle wheel seals, etc.;
• Perform all aspects of preventive vehicle maintenance as taught during training;
• Perform other mechanical repairs and replacements as requested by a Level I or II Technician / assist with their tasks, or as directed by a senior technician or supervisor as part of overall training;
• Perform all customer service-related tasks as required;
• Pick up and deliver vehicles;
• Maintain a clean and safe work area;
• Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, precision instruments, as well as power and pneumatic tools such as impact wrenches, welding equipment, lifting jacks, and electric winches;
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and equipment and machinery lubrication;
• Adjust and replace brakes, tighten bolts and nuts, and reassemble equipment;
• Lift or raise trucks & buses, heavy parts, or heavy equipment using hydraulic jacks or winches;
• Perform other tasks and projects assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
• Preference for 1-2 years of hands-on experience in vehicle or truck repair;
• Training in heavy vehicle mechanics or any other relevant training;
• Must know how to use hand tools;
• Class 5 driver’s license required, Class 3 license preferred. However, you must be able to obtain a Class 3 license within 6 months of employment;
• Basic computer skills preferred for data entry;
• Regular, predictable, and complete attendance is an essential function of the job;
• The candidate agrees to travel within the district (customer yards, immediate geographic area, and training locations), work according to the required schedule and location, complete the Penske employment application form, and undergo reference checks (including previous employment and academic background).

• The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move loads weighing up to 12 kg / 25 lb, frequently lift and/or move loads weighing up to 23 kg / 51 lb, and occasionally lift and/or move loads weighing up to 45 kg / 100 lb.
• This position requires the ability to see near and far, have good peripheral vision, perceive depth, and adjust focus.
• While performing the duties related to this position, the associate must regularly stand, walk, sit, speak, and listen. They must also frequently use their hands and arms to touch, feel, handle, and reach.
