Heavy Equipment Technician, Journeyperson

SMS Equipment is currently recruiting Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technicians to join our growing Timmins branch. In this role, you will apply your technicalexpertiseto inspect, troubleshoot, andmaintainoff-road heavy equipment, helping ensure safe and reliable operations for our customers.

Base Wage: $55.84 per hour + premiums*
Location: Timmins ON

We offer flexible work schedules to support a variety of lifestyles:

 

• 7x7 (Local): 7 days on / 7 days off (12-hour shifts, compressed work week premium eligible)
• 14x14 (Remote): 14 days on / 14 days off (12-hour shifts, includes travel, accommodations, and premiums)

Premiums may bring total compensation to approximately$64.61 per hourdepending on schedule.Additionalassignment-based allowances may apply.

What You'll Do

 

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on heavy equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance,componentoverhauls, and new equipment builds
• Use both digital diagnostic tools and hands-on troubleshooting techniques
• Work independently or collaboratively in field and shop environments
• Follow established safety procedures and actively contribute to a culture of safety
• Maintainaccurateservice records and documentation
• Adapt to a variety of working conditions, including remote sites and changing environments

What You Bring

You are a certified Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician who takes pride in your work and is committed to safe, high-quality outcomes. You bring strong problem-solving skills and enjoy diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues.You'recomfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and you adapt well to different environments, including field-based settings.

 

• Experiencemaintainingand repairing heavy equipment
• Valid Class 5 driver's license and willingness to travel asrequired
• The ability to use a variety of diagnostic tools and approaches to troubleshoot issues

Assets:

 

• Komatsu experience
• Interprovincial Red Seal certification
