Position Summary

Cambrian College's Schools of Engineering Technology has an immediate requirement for a Motive Power - Automotive Technologist on a regular part-time basis, 24 hours per week. 
Duties and Responsibilities

Motive Power - Automotive Technologist, in cooperation with program coordinators will plan, organize, supervise and maintain lab facilities within the School of Engineering Technology. The incumbent will also be responsible for:
 

  • Supporting faculty in the design, modification and delivery of the academic curriculum
  • The installation maintenance of laboratory equipment and overall safeguarding of laboratory assets
  • Plan, organize, and conduct demonstrations to support the practical application of previously taught theory and student learning requirements.
  • Assist in student evaluations in relation to learning activities.
  • Maintaining lab organization and cleanliness.
  • Provides technical expertise of a specialized nature to faculty and students, using independent judgement, to determine services and methods required to meet users' needs. Proving assistance and direction to students in the lab while controlling and overseeing students conducting academic activities.
  • Control supply inventory and monitor budget in conjunction with the supervisor.
  • Evaluate equipment and other resources and make recommendations on purchase or repair.


Qualifications

Required: 

  • Must have a Red Seal Journeyperson Certificate or equivalent. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)
  • Three years of experience in a relevant area after completion of apprenticeship training.
  • Experiencing sourcing and ordering supplies and experience in maintaining an industrial/commercial Shop.
  • Sound computer software skills and working knowledge of Microsoft software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High degree of initiative, work-related flexibility, organization, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to advise and positively interact with students is important, as is the ability to work within a team environment.

Assets/Preferred: 

  • Postsecondary diploma in a related area.
  • Experience working within a postsecondary environment.
  • Teaching or hands-on training experience.
  • First-Aid & CPR
