As an Automotive Service Technician, you will provide preventative maintenance, on-demand repairs, safety inspections, and mechanical breakdown repairs for a wide variety of light and medium-duty vehicles. Primary duties include: 
 

  • Work from repair and diagnostic manuals and software, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul various components found on vehicles.
  • Ensure that all fleet vehicles and equipment are safe and operational.
  • Provide detailed training, mentoring, and assistance to Apprentices and Servicepersons.


Qualifications 

 

  • A High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
  • An Automotive Service Technician certificate or equivalent Interprovincial Red Seal (as recognized by the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board).
  • At least 4 years of experience (including apprenticeship) maintaining and repairing light and medium-duty vehicles and road maintenance equipment including engines, drivelines, and transmissions.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
  • Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
  • The ability to use computerized laptop diagnostics programs.
  • The ability to provide clear and concise work order job notes and reports of completed work.
  • Applicants are required to have a standard set of mechanic hand tools.
  • Other journeyperson tickets (Heavy Duty, Automotive & Motorcycle, Blue Seal) are considered to be an asset.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Vehicle Inspection program (CVIP) license.
  • You have strong communication and relationship-building skills, along with sound judgment and high attention to detail.


Working Conditions: Exposure to noise, fumes from exhaust and cleaners, moving parts, tools and biohazards.

Pre-employment Drug Test: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test . This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
