Job description

A high-volume General Motors dealership in the Greater Montreal area is looking for a Dealership Controller.

Position summary:

- Provide analytical, administrative and financial information to department managers and the dealership;
- Perform the dealership’s accounting and bookkeeping activities;
- Reconcile accounts at month-end;
- Understand proper accounting procedures and provide guidance to team members regarding these procedures;
- Maintain up-to-date information regarding the dealership’s profits and losses.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee the entire accounting cycle;
- Prepare and analyze financial statements;
- Explain variances in revenue, expenses and profitability;
- Perform monthly reconciliation of various accounts;
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, sales file accounting, etc.;
- Oversee the development of accounting team members;
- Meet various monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines;
- Perform various analyses and respond to specific requests from the dealership or General Manager;
- Perform any other related duties.

Job definition – Office Manager / Controller:

- The position is highly analytical in nature, as a significant amount of time is spent planning, analyzing and summarizing financial data;
- The position requires the preparation of numerous periodic reports for the dealership, including the warranty repair order register, daily operating report and monthly cash flow statement.

- Knowledge of federal, provincial and municipal regulations related to the automotive industry;
- Ability to manage payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable and sales files;
- Ability to manage purchase orders and fixed assets;
- Ability to perform basic financial analyses;
- Ability to demonstrate an interest in the well-being of team members, including actively supporting their professional development;
- Working knowledge of banking and insurance terminology and procedures;
- Knowledge of ERA and GLOBAL CONNECT computer systems;
- Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to use financial formulas and calculate interest, transactions, net book value, etc.
