Take on a key role in the growth of Kia Joliette.

Kia Joliette is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented and results-driven Controller to lead our accounting department and work closely with senior management.

Your role:

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for all accounting and financial operations of the dealership and for ensuring the reliability of the financial information used to support business decisions.

You will regularly provide the dealer principal and General Manager with an accurate overview of the dealership’s overall financial position. This will include preparing comparative analyses of actual results against monthly and annual forecasts, explaining variances and helping identify actions to improve the company’s financial performance.

Your role will go beyond preparing financial statements. You will be expected to interpret results, identify trends, flag potential issues and provide management with a clear picture of the dealership’s financial health.

You will act as a true strategic partner to management by providing the information and analysis required to support business decisions, control expenses and continuously improve dealership profitability. You will also be responsible for supervising, supporting and developing the accounting team.

Your main responsibilities:

- Oversee the dealership’s complete accounting cycle;
- Prepare and regularly present management with an accurate overview of the dealership’s overall financial position;
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements;
- Compare actual results against monthly and annual budgets and forecasts;
- Analyze and explain variances in revenue, expenses and profitability;
- Identify trends, risks and opportunities to improve financial performance;
- Provide management with financial analyses to support decision-making;
- Oversee or perform monthly account reconciliations;
- Monitor cash flow, accounts receivable and accounts payable;
- Oversee prepaid expenses, fixed assets and intercompany accounts;
- Oversee payroll administration;
- Review and monitor commissions related to vehicle sales;
- Perform reconciliations with manufacturer financial statements and accounts;
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity and confidentiality of financial information;
- Meet monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines;
- Prepare budgets and actively participate in financial planning;
- Monitor and control expenses;
- Implement and ensure compliance with financial policies and internal controls;
- Work closely with the General Manager to analyze the performance of the various departments;
- Supervise, support and develop members of the accounting team;
- Participate in various projects aimed at improving administrative and financial processes;
- Perform various analyses or respond to specific requests from the dealer principal or General Manager;
- Perform any other related duties required to ensure the dealership’s sound financial operations.

The profile we are looking for:

We are looking for a reliable, organized and analytical professional who is capable of taking full ownership of the department.

- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial control;
- Experience in the automotive industry or a dealership environment is considered a strong asset;
- Excellent understanding of the complete accounting cycle;
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial results;
- Ability to clearly explain and present financial information to management;
- Excellent organizational and priority-management skills;
- Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and meet tight deadlines;
- Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate a team;
- Autonomous, resourceful and able to demonstrate sound professional judgment;
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
- Discretion and absolute respect for confidentiality;
- Good command of Excel;
- Experience with an automotive dealership management system (DMS) is considered an asset.
