Senior Automotive / Diagnostic Technician – up to $45 per hour

Eastern Transmission is looking for an experienced Senior Transmission R&R Technician to join our team.

Established in 1989, we are one of Canada’s largest transmission remanufacturing and repair shops—and the largest in Eastern Canada. Our Ville Saint-Laurent facility provides complete transmission and drivetrain services for domestic, Asian, and European vehicles, including cars, SUVs, pickup trucks, and light-to-medium commercial vehicles.

Transmission removal and installation will make up most of the work. We need someone who can work independently, complete jobs properly and efficiently, and contribute positively to the entire team.

Responsibilities:

    • Remove and install automatic transmissions, CVTs, transfer cases, and differentials;
    • Work on domestic, Asian, and European vehicles;
    • Inspect vehicles and identify transmission, drivetrain, and installation-related problems;
    • Perform general mechanical and drivetrain repairs related to assigned work;
    • Use scan tools and technical information when required;
    • Complete repairs accurately and within established labour times;
    • Verify completed work through road testing, scanning, and post-repair inspections;
    • Communicate clearly with the service and parts teams when additional repairs or parts are required;
    • Assist other technicians and share technical knowledge when needed;
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Qualifications:

    • Several years of professional automotive repair experience;
    • Strong experience removing and installing transmissions;
    • Good mechanical and drivetrain knowledge;
    • Ability to work independently on complex R&R jobs;
    • Experience with automatic transmissions, CVTs, transfer cases, and differentials;
    • Audi, Volkswagen, or other European vehicle experience is a strong asset;
    • Diagnostic, scan-tool, and electrical troubleshooting skills are assets;
    • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset, but not a requirement;
    • Own basic automotive tools;
    • Valid driver’s licence;
    • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship;
    • Reliable, organized, and able to complete work efficiently.
