Start date: as soon as possible.
Want to work as a Mechanic without having to sell every repair?
At Communauto, behind every available vehicle is a team dedicated to ensuring its safety, reliability and quality. Our Rivière-des-Prairies shop maintains our own fleet: no customers to convince, no sales pressure and no negotiating over every repair. The work that needs to be done is clear, so you can focus on your trade.
We are looking for a Level 2 or 3 Apprentice Mechanic who takes pride in quality workmanship and wants to continue developing their skills in a small, new and well-equipped shop that provides tools and a toolbox and offers an ideal environment for learning.
Your day-to-day role:
Reporting to the RDP Shop Manager, you will contribute directly to the availability and safety of our fleet vehicles while progressively developing your technical skills.
More specifically, you will:
- Perform preventive and routine maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, tires, brakes, suspension and tune-ups;
- Perform repairs with a level of complexity suited to your apprenticeship level;
- Perform basic diagnostics, apply the methods you have learned and participate in resolving technical issues;
- Receive guidance from a Manager with extensive mechanical expertise, particularly when performing more complex repairs;
- Follow procedures, quality standards, and health and safety regulations while keeping your work area clean and safe.
What we’re looking for:
- Valid Level 2 or 3 Apprentice Mechanic card;
- 1 to 3 years of experience in an automotive repair shop;
- Automotive mechanics training or equivalent relevant experience;
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and a good driving record;
- Strong attention to detail, reliability and a genuine commitment to quality workmanship;
- Positive attitude, strong team spirit and willingness to learn and receive feedback;
- A desire to progressively develop your independence in performing routine tasks and various types of diagnostics.
Assets:
- Automotive professional certification (CPA);
- Halocarbon recovery and handling certification;
- Knowledge of electric vehicles.
What we offer:
- Salary based on experience;
- Full-time position (36 hours per week) over 4 days;
- Day shift: Monday to Thursday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.;
- New facility located in Rivière-des-Prairies, just minutes from the A25 Bridge;
- Toolbox and tools, work equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) provided;
- Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision and travel insurance;
- Group retirement plan with employer contributions;
- Bank of personal leave hours;
- Discounts on Communauto services and public transit passes;
- Employee and Family Assistance Program;
- Access to telemedicine.
Why choose Communauto?
At Communauto, we are our own customer. You don’t have to sell repairs, manage conflicting expectations or negotiate whether a repair is necessary. You can focus on what matters most: understanding the problem, doing quality work and getting safe, reliable vehicles back on the road.
You’ll join a small team in a new facility where the toolbox, tools and equipment you need to do your job are provided. You’ll benefit from a predictable schedule, a structured work environment and the guidance of an experienced Manager who will help you develop your skills, while working alongside colleagues who are also continuing their training.
If you want to continue your career in automotive mechanics in an environment where quality workmanship, collaboration and skill development truly matter, we want to meet you.
