Job Description:
Service de Pneu Martin Inc. is seeking a Technical Sales Representative (Outside Sales) to develop and manage a business clientele in the commercial tire, heavy-duty vehicle, OTR tire, wheel, and fleet solutions sectors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding customers' technical and business needs, recommending appropriate products and services, and providing pre- and post-sale support. The position involves serving customers operating in industries such as road transportation, excavation, construction, moving services, school transportation, civil engineering, and various commercial fleets. A strong technical understanding of tires for each of these industries is essential.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, manage, and maintain a large portfolio of commercial customers.
• Analyze market conditions, competitor activities, and industry trends, and contribute to the development of sales strategies.
• Identify, prospect, and develop new business opportunities and customer accounts.
• Conduct regular customer visits within the transportation, construction, excavation, civil engineering, and specialized services industries.
• Evaluate customers' technical, operational, and commercial needs by analyzing tire specifications, sizes, load ratings, applications, compatibility, performance, wheels, and related services, then recommend the most suitable solutions based on vehicle type, load capacity, road conditions, mileage, industry, and fleet performance objectives.
• Explain product specifications, including dimensions, load ratings, compatibility, performance, limitations, operating conditions, and recommended applications.
• Prepare quotations, pricing proposals, and technical/commercial proposals, and negotiate certain sales terms and conditions.
• Perform preventive fleet inspections at customer locations by measuring tread depth, checking tire pressure, and inspecting the overall condition and wear of all types of tires to determine replacement needs and recommend appropriate preventive measures.
• Travel regularly to customer, supplier, distributor, and business partner locations, including commercial fleet operating sites and yards.
• Identify signs of premature or abnormal tire wear and recommend tire replacement, rotation, repair, maintenance, or monitoring as appropriate.
• Prepare inspection reports using Microsoft Excel and analyze mileage, service life, and cost-effectiveness of various tire brands, including both new and retread tires.
• Promote and manage retreading solutions, advise customers, evaluate casing eligibility, collaborate with specialized partners, and compare the cost-effectiveness of new versus retread tires.
• Provide after-sales support, including warranty claims, adjustments, rebates, credits, and the resolution of technical or commercial issues.
• Manage all technical, commercial, and administrative post-sale follow-up, including warranties, adjustments, credits, rebates, customer issue resolution, billing, accounts, and payment follow-up.
• Ensure customer satisfaction while developing and maintaining long-term customer loyalty.
• Maintain an active presence with customers to support the growth of the heavy-duty division.
• Recommend initiatives to improve sales performance, customer retention, and the company's presence within the commercial market.
• Communicate with suppliers to verify product specifications, availability, pricing, and delivery schedules.
• Assist with inventory and purchasing activities to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Participate in training sessions, factory visits, industry events, and networking activities, including those organized by the Tire and Mechanical Specialists Association of Quebec, to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge.
• Complete all required training to develop and expand technical expertise regarding the company's products and services.
• Represent the company with customers, suppliers, distributors, business partners, and industry associations.
• Coordinate service calls when required and provide technicians with the information necessary to complete assigned work.
• Serve as a technical resource for employees and share knowledge gained through training and field experience.
• Assist, when required, with administrative and operational tasks related to the heavy-duty department.
Training
Education:
• A diploma, certificate, or other educational credential in sales, marketing, management, business, or a related field.
• Training in technical sales, business development, negotiation, customer relationship management (CRM), the automotive industry, or the heavy-duty vehicle sector is considered an asset.
Experience:
• Between two (2) and eight (8) years of experience in sales, account management, business development, outside sales, B2B sales, management, and/or customer service.
• The following experience is considered an asset:
o Selling tires, automotive products, industrial products, or technical products; and/or
o Working with commercial fleets or heavy-duty vehicles.

• Knowledge of commercial tires, heavy-duty truck tires, OTR (Off-the-Road) tires, construction and earthmoving equipment tires, agricultural and specialty tires, steer tires, drive tires, trailer tires, new and retread tires, including their sizes, performance, mileage, service life, load indexes, air pressure (PSI), tread depth (measured in 32nds of an inch), wear patterns, retreading, operating costs, and fleet requirements is considered a significant asset.
Licenses:
• Valid driver's license.
• No professional license or specific certification is required.
