Job Details

The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Public Operations department as a Transit and Fleet Infrastructure Technician. Reporting to the Manager, Fleet PW & Transit, this position will be responsible for maintaining, trouble shooting, light replacement/repair of technology infrastructure and project implementations of fleet technologies.

Responsibilities

 

  • Support of all technologies across the City's fleet, including Transit (69 buses) and Public Operations (230 assets).
  • Install, test and maintain fleet technologies across Transit and Public Operations fleets, including fare collection systems, SmartBus/Smart Fare, cameras, GPS/AVL, access control, and fuel systems.
  • Implement and update the full lifecycle of fleet technologies in alignment with vendor contracts.
  • Manage technology inventory, spare parts, fare media, and the receipt, storage, and distribution of fleet-related equipment and supplies.


Qualifications

 

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Planning, Engineering, or related field with 2 years experience, or 2-year Post Secondary diploma with 4 years experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, computer technologies/IT and communications hardware/software is required.
  • Technical and mechanical experience working with complex fleet/transit related technology and mechanical equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of City fleet and transit vehicles maintenance, current and future Smart Transit Technology trends and practices is an asset.
  • Experience installing, diagnosing, maintaining and repairing electronic/video systems for public transportation (communications, fare collection and vehicle smart systems), considered an asset.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.


Hours of Work

 

  • Benefit from flexible work hours by adjusting your start and end times by 30 or 60 minutes around our core hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 5:00, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO).


Compensation

 

  • The salary ranges from $76,780.34 - $94,499.34 per year, including a comprehensive benefits package with a flexible spending account, pension plan, and accrued paid vacation starting at 3 weeks per year.

  • Candidates not meeting the full qualifications may be considered for a development opportunity at a lower classification and salary.
