Position Summary
IRON 5 Equipment & Repair Ltd. is seeking an Automotive Mechanic to join our team. We are open to experienced 2nd- or 3rd-year apprentices and would prefer a certified Automotive Service Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of light-duty vehicles while supporting our commitment to quality, safety, and customer service.
Functional Role
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on gasoline and diesel-powered light-duty vehicles.
- Conduct inspections and identify mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns.
- Complete preventative maintenance services, including oil changes, brakes, steering, suspension, and cooling system repairs.
- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Use diagnostic equipment and service information systems effectively.
- Complete work orders, service reports, and digital documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Communicate repair findings and recommendations to the Service Advisor or Service Manager.
- Assist with shop operations and support team members as required.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
General Requirements
- Certified Automotive Service Technician preferred.
- Will consider 2nd or 3rd Year Automotive Apprentices with relevant experience.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with vehicle repair.
Skills and Knowledge
- Experience diagnosing and repairing automotive systems.
- Strong understanding of brakes, steering, suspension, and driveline systems.
- Knowledge of engine performance and electrical diagnostics.
- Ability to use scan tools and diagnostic software.
- Experience with wheel alignments is considered an asset.
- Experience working on light fleet vehicles is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with digital work order and shop management systems.
