Heavy Equipment Technician, Road Service

Winnipeg, MB

Full-Time | Monday-Friday | Day Shift | 40 hrs./week

Compensation & Rewards:
 

  • Competitive hourly wage, based on education and experience
  • $2.00/hour Premium for Road Technician
  • Quarterly Profit-Sharing Bonuses - up to $1,500.00

What You'll Do:
 

  • Perform mechanical repairs on a variety of heavy equipment represented by JJE
  • Perform hydraulic and electrical diagnostics
  • Conduct repairs in a timely and effective manner, communicating effectively with the Service Writer and Parts team to ensure optimal efficiency
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance tasks and inspections
  • Communicate with Lead Hand and/or Service Manager regarding job progress and job status changes
  • Maintain organized and safe work area, shop tools and service vans
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned
  • Travel between branches, clients, warehouses and worksites


What You Bring: 

Education/Certification:
 

  • Licensed Journeyperson Truck and Transport Mechanic (Red Seal preferred), or Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician; certification recognized in Manitoba
  • Valid driver's license and a satisfactory driver's abstract
  • Commercial License considered an asset
  • Must be able to meet the requirements of a pre-employment background check, where relevant to the position and in accordance with applicable legislation


Experience:
 

  • 3+ years' experience working as a Heavy Truck, Equipment or Diesel Technician
  • Experienced with hydraulic and/or electrical work
  • Chassis experience considered an asset
  • Exposure to Street Sweepers, Vacuum Trucks or Refuse equipment is considered an asset
  • Experience setting up and operating complex machinery
  • Experience using MS Office Suite

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Work Environment:
 

  • Field-based work; Customer sites
  • Shop, Warehouse, Yard environment
  • Frequent exposure to noise, dust and dirt
  • This role requires the ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in a variety of environmental conditions, with or without accommodations.


Travel Requirements: 
 

  • Regular daily travel to customer sites; occasional extended travel may be required
