GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:

Creaform Scanner Technician to support advanced inspection and reverse engineering activities within our automotive manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring dimensional accuracy, supporting product launches, and maintaining quality standards for high-volume production programs. You will serve as the technical expert for 3D scanning and metrology, working closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to deliver precise, actionable data.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Lead 3D scanning operations using Creaform systems (Handy SCAN, Metra SCAN) for automotive components and assemblies.
  • Perform detailed dimensional inspections and GD&T analysis against CAD data.
  • Support new product launches (PPAP) with accurate measurement and validation data.
  • Generate and present comprehensive inspection reports to internal teams and OEM customers.
  • Analyze deviations and collaborate with engineering and production to resolve dimensional issues.
  • Develop and standardize scanning and inspection procedures across programs.
  • Mentor and train junior technicians and quality personnel.
  • Troubleshoot complex scanning, alignment, and data processing challenges.
  • Maintain calibration and ensure optimal performance of metrology equipment.
  • Support reverse engineering efforts for legacy or modified components.
  • Maintain coolant units and coolant throughout the plant and ensure supply to presses.
  • Adhere to OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 & TS16949 procedures. Work as a Team Member in all situations.
  • Work in compliance and conform to QMS, EMS and H&S standards, Policies, Objectives, Impact & Aspect and Hazard and Risks.


EDUCATION REQUIRED:

 

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

  • 5-8+ years of experience in 3D scanning and metrology within the automotive industry.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Creaform systems and VXelements/VXinspect.
  • Advanced knowledge of GD&T and automotive inspection standards.
  • Experience with PPAP, APQP, and OEM quality requirements.
  • Proficiency in interpreting complex CAD models and engineering drawings.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
