Heavy Equipment Mechanic Presented by Prosperity Workforce Solutions Prosperity Workforce Solutions is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established airport services organization in their search for a skilled and reliable Heavy Equipment Mechanic based at the Iqaluit International Airport (YFB) in Nunavut. About the Role As Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you'll be responsible for the repair, troubleshooting, adjustment, overhaul, and preventative maintenance of the mobile heavy equipment and machinery used in daily airport operations, including fire trucks and other specialized vehicles. You'll report to the Heavy Equipment Supervisor and work as part of a close-knit team that takes pride in keeping critical infrastructure operational year-round. This role requires the ability to work extended hours and in extreme weather conditions - a reality of northern operations that comes with its own sense of purpose and pride.

What You'll Be Doing - Executing preventative maintenance plans for equipment and machinery - Coordinating and completing work orders for both preventative and demand maintenance - Troubleshooting and repairing vehicles and heavy equipment in line with the established fleet plan - Assisting with and initiating the procurement of on-demand and spare parts - Entering and updating data in a computerized maintenance management system - Performing minor body repair work including painting - Participating in safety meetings and required training programs - Supporting the Shop Foreman, Heavy Duty Mechanic, or Services Director as needed

What You Bring - Grade 12 diploma or equivalent - Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Trade Certification with Red Seal Endorsement - 2+ years in a similar role - Class 3 driver's license with air-brake (Q endorsement) - Ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card, AVOP-D, and Restricted Radio/Telephone License- Willingness to complete required onboarding and safety training, including Safety Management System Certificate I and WHMIS
