ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Supervisor, Fleet Logistics & Sign Shop, is responsible for the daily operations of the Regional Parts warehouse and related office duties including warehouse operations and stores; delivery of inventory and non-inventory items; maintenance of inventories utilizing the Fleet Management System (M5); transaction verifications, parts ordering and pick up, and tracking lubricants for Regional Departments.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
 

  • Completes operational requirements for the joint Fleet Services parts warehouse and overseeing the Roads Maintenance Yards inventory, including ordering, receiving and verification of shipments of both inventory and non-inventory supplies, equipment and parts, consisting of distinctly different product lines, both automotive and Heavy Duty, on an emergency, rush, or as required basis.
  • Performs spot checks pricing to ensure appropriate pricing.
  • Generates purchase orders utilizing purchase card system in accordance with Regional purchase card standards and procedures; forwards invoices for processing and authorization by Supervisor.
  • Operates complete inventory system within M5.
  • Restocks drum and bulk oils in bulk storage areas for the repair facilities, as required; receives and authorizes shipments and forwards paperwork to Supervisor for processing.
  • Monitors computer screen, loading dock buzzer, telephone, and drop-in activity at multiple counters to ensure timely customer service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
  • Prepares requisitions and places orders for all joint use light/heavy duty vehicles and off road vehicles and equipment parts requirements.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
 

  • Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in the automotive/parts apprenticeship program or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year work related experience in a computerized automotive/heavy truck inventory control environment, shipping and receiving industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a fully computerized automotive parts warehouse functions and associated inventory control procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Highway Traffic Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHIMIS) and Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act.
  • Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's Licence clear of serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act.
  • Satisfactory Police Criminal Background Check.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self-management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
  • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications including proficiency in word processing, email, internet, database and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to maintain legible, accurate records of activities and a safe, organized work environment.
  • Ability to understand technical auto parts and other manuals to determine parts needed and identify part numbers.
  • Demonstrated ability to reach and lift heavy objects and/or awkward items, use assistive devices such as a barrel cart and forklift, and the ability to withstand long periods of walking, climbing and bending.
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions and work in an environment with exposure to noise, vehicle fuels and chemicals.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours occasionally as needed, in accordance with Branch policy and respond to emergency situations.
