310T/310S Mechanic or 2nd Year Apprentice

Job Summary
Based out of our Smithville, Ontario facility and reporting to the Shop Foreman, a 310T or 310S Mechanic or Apprentice is responsible for learning and in-turn completing, the day-to-day preventative and post incident repairs of a large fleet of commercial vehicles. Under the guidance of the shop leadership and working with experienced technicians, this fast paced, but diligent role will diagnose and carry out all repairs for mechanical issues and problems discovered in various commercial School Buses and civilian class vehicles. The incumbent will maintain a strong sense of customer service while interacting with various stakeholders including, School Bus Drivers, Dispatchers, Managers, Peer Mechanics, Apprentices and Governmental Agencies.
Compensation
Licensed 310T or 310S Mechanic - $33.66 per hour
2nd Year Apprentice - $27.00 per hour
Job Duties
- Perform Brake and Safety Inspections, carry out preventative maintenance.
- Ensure all vehicle inspections are completed in a timely fashion each month.
- Perform service calls and cold starts as required.
- Ensure you have knowledge of our safety policies and adhere to them.
- Perform additional vehicle repairs as needed.
- Adhere to compliance-based regulations from a Company, Federal, Provincial and Municipal perspective.
- Complete reports to record problems and work performed
- Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
- Diagnose faults and malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace
Qualifications
- Possess and maintain in good standing a valid 310T or 310S License or 2nd Year Apprentice
- Valid Driver's License
- Thorough working knowledge of Municipal, Provincial and Federal safety provisions
- Practical experience in preventative maintenance practices, particularly within the School Bus industry, is an asset
- Ability to work in a team-based, collaborative work environment
Physical & Additional Requirements
- Ability to walk, bend, twist and turn
- Climbing stairs may be required
- Personal Protective Equipment required
