Position: Vehicle Maintenance manager
Reports to: VP Operations, COO
Employment: Full Time Year Round located at Big White Ski Resort which is a 35 minute commute from the Kelowna suburb of Rutland.
Job Description: Vehicle Maintenance Manager is responsible for maintaining all company vehicles owned and operated by Big White Ski Resort. Also Maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Position Requirements/Skills:
- Trades certification, or equivalent working knowledge, Mechanical aptitude
- Previous ski industry snow cat maintenance experience is an asset
- Computer competent
- Experience in hydraulic and hydrostatic systems
- Experience in vehicle electrical systems, CAN bus included
- Experience in suspension, tires, braking systems
- Experience in engine, diesel aftertreatment, transmission, drive lines and axles
- Proficiency in welding and cutting
- Driver's license
- Proven self-motivation, ability to work well with minimum supervision
- Ability to motivate and mentor employees.
- Assign daily and monthly tasks and assist when needed.
- Demonstrate strong guest service skills
- Demonstrate strong organization, time management and communication skills
- Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail
- Work well within a diverse team environment
- Flexible availability: including evenings, early mornings, weekends and statutory holidays
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and temperature extremes (-25 to +30)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe professional environment for employees
- Monitor payroll timeclock and approve employee time
- Delegate tasks to employees and assist when required
- Assist with the troubleshooting and repair of all vehicles and equipment used on Big White.
- Maintain service schedule for multiple pieces of equipment in multiple departments
- Perform and assist in maintenance of ski lifts and various stationary machines.
- Source, purchase and logistical support for parts required.
- Determine when tools need repair and source when replacement needed.
- Communicate effectively with all departments.
- Work cooperatively with others of the maintenance team and ensure safe work practices are adhered to
- Comply with all department and company policies, procedures and safe work practices
- Perform other related tasks, as assigned by management
- Uphold the highest standard of internal and external customer service at all times
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk and lie down for periods for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to lift and carry 25kg (55lbs) at times.
- Must be able to kneel, bend, twist, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill duties.
- Must be able to perform a loaded twist (torqueing a wrench)
- Requires grasping, tool use, writing, standing, sitting, driving, shoveling, repetitive motions, climbing, visual acuity, listening and hearing ability.
Salary and Hours:
$100,000.00/annum
The work week varies depending on the time of year with 5 day 40 hour weeks in the winter and 4 day 40 hour weeks in the summer.
