Heavy Equipment Technician, 4th Year Apprentice

SMS Equipment is looking forknowledgeable Heavy Equipment Technician, 4th Year Electrician Apprentice to join our highly skilled team at our Kamloops, BC branch. Wage:$47.08 per hour. Additional premiums apply.
Location:Kamloops, BC
Shift:7x7 Rotation

What You'll Do

Join SMS Equipment and work with some of the largest and most advanced heavy equipment in the world. You'll play a hands-on role in keeping operations running safely and efficiently by:

 

• Diagnosing and repairing haul trucks, dozers, excavators, shovels, loaders, and graders
• Performing troubleshooting and major component replacements in shop and field environments
• Working with hydraulic and powertrain systems
• Ensuring timely, high-quality repairs whether working independently or in a team
• Following all safety procedures, including confined space and PPE requirements
• Make recommendations regarding the extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement.

What You Bring

We're looking for a team player with a strong work ethic and safety-first mindset. Successful candidates will have:

 

• 4th year apprentice status in the Heavy Equipment Technician trade.
• Strong mechanical problem-solving skills and a commitment to safe, high-quality work
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in both team and customer-facing settings
• Experience with Komatsu equipment is considered an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment's competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise).
