We are seeking a 4th Year Apprentice or Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team in Winnipeg, MB. Our Heavy Equipment Technicians provide on-site repairs and builds for construction-related equipment, operating from a service truck to support customers in the field. This role requires strong diagnostic skills, employing logic and deductive reasoning to troubleshoot effectively.
Base Wage: $47.41 per hour. Additional premiums apply.
Location: Winnipeg, MB. Camp accommodations provided.
Schedule: 14x14. This role reports to the Winnipeg Branch at the start of each rotation and is not FIFO. The incumbent is provided a company vehicle and is paid travel time to get to site and back.
What You'll Do
- Performing assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs and complete overhauls on heavy equipment.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
- Make recommendations regarding extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement.
- Think logically and keep up with changes in technology.
- Interpret work order and technical manuals.
- Complete job specific reports and paperwork as needed.
- Have a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety.
- Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision.
- Work remotely in adverse weather conditions. Job tasks may be physically demanding lifting up to 50 lbs. Confined Space work is required.
What You Bring
The successful candidate will be a 4th Year Apprentice or Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician with 1-2 years experience working with construction equipment. Other requirements include:
- Experience in repair/maintenance of heavy equipment: construction equipment preferred; candidates with agricultural or on-road truck experience may be considered
- Strong commitment to safety
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Some positions may require the ability to travel and meet customer site requirements
- Experience with Komatsu equipment is considered an asset
- Interprovincial Red Seal is considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 drivers license
