As a Journeyperson I - Autobody Technician, you will be responsible for various body repairs. Primary duties include:
- Design, build, repair, modify, paint, refinish and adjust all types of wooden and metal automotive bodies. This includes trucks, buses, automobiles, Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs), auxiliary units and accessories.
- Perform related body shop tasks, such as prepping, welding, spray painting, body repair and parts replacement.
- Operate a wide variety of power tools, hand tools, and equipment while following blueprints, patterns, or specification manuals.
Qualifications
- A completed related Journeyperson Certificate as an Autobody Technician (must have all 3 certifications: Prepper, Refinisher and Repair) or equivalent recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
- The ability to lift 20kg (45lbs) on a regular basis is required.
- The ability to obtain an air brake (Q) endorsement is required.
- Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit .
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude will be considered as an asset.
- Previous training or experience in welding, upholstering and framing, and/or wheel alignment will be considered assets.
- You are strong a communicator who takes initiatives and demonstrate well developed planning and organizational skills.
- Success in this role requires you to demonstrate sound judgment in safety standards; excellent technical proficiency, interpersonal skills, customer service, and high work standards
Working Conditions: This position works in a shop environment, which can include exposure to: vehicle fumes, heavy equipment, noise and dust. Some work must be performed in tight spaces and awkward positions including bending, crouching and above shoulder work.
