Our company is seeking to hire a Welding Technician and join a growing automotive industry company.
The Welding Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of welding operations within the business services sector. This position focuses on developing, implementing, and optimizing welding procedures to meet stringent industry standards and client specifications. The technician will collaborate closely with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to troubleshoot welding issues and improve process reliability. By maintaining detailed documentation and conducting rigorous testing, the Welding Technician ensures compliance with safety regulations and enhances overall product integrity. Ultimately, this role drives continuous improvement in welding processes, contributing to the company's reputation for excellence and operational success.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and maintain welding procedures and process documentation in accordance with industry codes and standards.
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded; align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws
- Conduct welding process evaluations and trials to optimize parameters for quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality control, and production, to resolve welding-related issues.
- Perform inspections and non-destructive testing to verify weld quality and adherence to specifications.
- Train and support production personnel on welding techniques, safety protocols, and process improvements.
- Analyze welding data and generate reports to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
To be a qualified candidate you must meet the following:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Welding Technology, Metallurgy, or a related field.
- Atleast 3 years of related proven experience in welding process development and quality control within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards such as AWS, ASME, or ISO.
- Familiarity with welding equipment, metallurgy, and non-destructive testing methods.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding procedure specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Certification as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent.
- Experience with robotic or automated welding systems.
- Proficiency in welding simulation software and data analysis tools.
- Previous experience working in a business services environment supporting manufacturing clients.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprint
- Physical requirements include the ability to perform medium to heavy tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling on a frequent basis
