Responsibilities
- Work under limited supervision and performs tasks according to written instructions and established procedures.
- Perform repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
- Perform inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
- Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisition new parts.
- Perform all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
- Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
- Conduct safety checks on vehicles.
- Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
- Assist senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
- Review, complete or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / Worksafe Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience, certified Red Seal Diesel Mechanic is an asset.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and aptitude.
- Knowledge/ experience using RTA an asset
- Valid driver's license and must have a clean driving record, Class 3 Driver's Licence or higher is an asset.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Able to successfully pass a background check consisting of an MTO medical/drug test, criminal history search, license verification and employment confirmation.
