The Role

We are currently seeking Automotive Mechanics to join our team at our embedded project site in Fort McKay. This position is ideal for registered journeypersons as well as 3rd and 4th year apprentices who are looking to expand their experience in a dynamic, team-focused environment.

You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing light-duty vehicles and support equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Priority will be given to eligible candidates that reside in the Municipality of Wood Buffalo. A 10/4 rotation for local residents to Fort McMurray. Out of area candidates may apply and shift options can be discussed with successful candidates. 

Compensation/Benefits
 

  • CLAC Journeyman rate ranges from: $49.32 - $55.50/hour depending on experience
  • Time and a half after 8 hours
  • Regular work day 10.5 hours 2.5 OT per day
  • Vacation and stat holiday pay

Duties/Responsibilities
 

  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on light-duty vehicles and support equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and complete necessary repairs efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct fluid changes, oil sampling, brake services, and general mechanical servicing.
  • Maintain accurate service records and ensure work is completed to OCL, client, and industry standards.
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks and ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety requirements, including LOTO procedures and FLRAs.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting performance goals and timelines.
  • Communicate progress and equipment issues to supervisors promptly.

 
Skills/Education/Qualifications
 

  • Registered Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician (Red Seal preferred) OR 3rd/4th Year Apprentice enrolled in an automotive service technician program.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing a wide range of light-duty vehicles and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical and hydraulic brake systems.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean abstract.
  • Safety certifications required: CSTS/OSSA or BSO/CSO.
  • WHMIS 2015 is required
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Strong and independent work ethic
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
