What You'll Do

As Manager, Fleet Services, you will:
 

  • Oversee Cochrane's entire fleet including procurement, maintenance, repairs, lifecycle management, and disposal
  • Ensure compliance with Federal National Safety Code (NSC) and Provincial Commercial Vehicle legislation
  • Maintain accurate fleet inventory, databases, and reporting on costs, fuel, and maintenance
  • Lead, coach, and support the Fleet Services team, including hiring, training, and performance management
  • Prepare and manage annual capital and operating budgets while identifying efficiencies
  • Coordinate inspections, maintenance, and repairs with internal staff and external vendors
  • Keep all vehicles licensed, insured, safe, and road-ready
  • Drive continuous improvement in fleet safety, technology, and sustainability practices


What You Bring

 

  • Post-secondary education in Transportation, Logistics, Fleet Management, or Vehicle Maintenance (equivalencies considered)
  • 5+ years of fleet management experience, ideally within a municipal setting
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized workplace
  • Strong knowledge of fleet legislation, procurement practices, and maintenance standards
  • Skilled in budgeting, reporting, and data analysis with a solid business mindset
  • Proficiency with Fleet Information Management Systems (FIMS) and MS Office
  • A collaborative leadership style with a knack for building strong teams and relationships


What Sets You Apart?
 

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License (required); Class 3 with air brake endorsement in an asset
  • Fleet Management Accreditation (APWA or NAFA)
  • Safety or supervisory certifications (ACSA, NCSO, Public Works Supervisor)
  • Training in Commercial Vehicle Safety
