Hours of Work: Mon. - Fri. 8a - 4:30p (80 hrs. biweekly) (vehicle required) 

The job responsibilities are as follows: 

 

  • The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of Maintenance Services within Excel Society sites in compliance with Excel Society's policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring all appropriate documentation is completed as it pertains to responsibilities.
  • Completing assigned maintenance requests for sites within Excel as assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • Performing basic plumbing and fixture repairs, wall and flooring repair, painting.
  • Providing limited direction to outside contractors (HVAC/Janitorial/laundry/leasing agents).
  • Sweeping, garbage removal/disposal, operation of manual powered maintenance equipment.
  • Assisting in grounds maintenance and snow removal.
  • Performing on call duties at other sites as required.
  • Preparing vacant units for occupancy.
  • Addressing all facility needs including building interior, exterior and grounds.


Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

 

  • Travel required.
  • Working outside in variable weather conditions.
  • Working around clients with potential high behaviours.
  • Lifting up to a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Frequent sitting, squatting, bending, walking, and lifting.
  • Working in fast pace environment with tight deadlines.
  • Regular work schedule with 40 hours per week. Some evenings and weekends maybe required depending on organizational needs.


Requirements: 

 

  • Mechanically inclined and having a working knowledge of the following is an asset:
  • Blue print reading;
  • Construction and building materials;
  • Electricity;
  • Heating and cooling systems;
  • Carpentry;
  • Plumbing;
  • Painting; and
  • Minor mechanical equipment repair.
  • Satisfactory criminal record check.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license required.
  • Have some knowledge and understanding of persons with disabilities.
  • Good planning, organizational problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
