The Opportunity:

As a seasoned professional or as an intermediate professional with strong relevant experience and/or academic qualifications, by working for a dynamic organization that is continuously evolving to help increase Ontario's economic competitiveness and in meeting the needs of Ontario's innovators, you will drive new opportunities to make a difference. 

With Ontario-wide coverage, as a Sector Manager at OCI, you will be a key member of the OVIN Central Hub core team, whose goal is to make Ontario one of the leading global jurisdictions in the present and future of the automotive and mobility sector.

Your Contribution: 

At OCI, your work will be varied every day and you will be called to contribute in several different ways: 
 

  • Work collaboratively across the organization to deliver OVIN's objectives and OCI's corporate plan.
  • Provide technical and business expertise in Connected and Automated Vehicle (CAV) technology and/or CAV supply chain.
  • Stay abreast of technology trends in the automotive and mobility technology sector.
  • Develop and maintain a database of enterprises active in the sector.
  • Develop and maintain a database of academic researchers active in the sector.
  • Pursue extensive outreach to enterprises to become the go-to OVIN Ontario market expert.
  • Map, develop and maintain the OVIN automotive and mobility cluster by identifying and engaging with entrepreneurs, small-medium enterprises, multinational enterprises, industry associations, academic institutions, venture capitalists, trade commissioners, and other stakeholders.
  • Expand OCI's network by participating in events, business associations, technical committees and professional organizations.
  • Be a connector, facilitating valuable introduction between different organizations to expand business opportunities for the benefit of Ontario.
  • Support OCI's business development team in meeting OVIN programs funding targets.
  • Act as an ambassador of OVIN & OCI through speaking and other public engagements.
  • Provide critical technical and business proposals review.
  • Monitor market requirements to inform program evolution.
  • Take a leadership role in the planning and execution of identified strategic national and international collaborations.
  • Working in conjunction with OCI's marketing and communications group to identify and communicate success stories, trends and new developments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Preferred Attributes: 
 

  • To be effective in this role, academic domain expertise and/or industrial experience in one or more of the following is required: AI, Software, Computing, Networking, Automotive, Sensors, Materials, Powertrains, Light weighting, Batteries, Human Machine Interface, etc.
  • At a minimum, you should have a high-level understanding of the business and technology of automotive and mobility (EV, CV, AV).
  • You have a network of relevant stakeholders [e.g. SMEs, Academia, Venture Capital, etc.].
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and communications skills, including ability to understand complex technology/science and convey in simple terms, verbal and written.
  • Comfortable speaking at public events.
  • Conversant in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and CRM systems.
  • You demonstrate a combination of business acumen and technical breadth.
  • You have experience creating and/or reviewing competitive RFQs.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Ontario and Canada governmental affairs is a plus.
