Position Title: Auto Parts Centres (APC) Product Specialist - Sales Representative
Location: Supporting the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Hamilton and Niagara peninsula
Type of Employment: Full-time Permanent
Compensation: Competitive wage based on previous experiences and skills; Car allowance and necessary technology to support sales work provided
Hours
- 40 to 44 hours/week with overtime if required by business
- Mondays to Fridays during business hours
- Evenings and weekends if required by business

Position Summary
The primary objective of this role is to sell company products and/or services, with a focus on bulk lubricants, by reaching opportunity-based sales quotas. Business targets should be achieved through effective management of designated territories by making regular calls and visits to the customer sites. The individual should develop ongoing and profitable relationships with customers and continuously maintain a professional image of the company. Integrity, passion, and in-person presentation and negotiation skills are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities
- Be an in-house specialist for specific product lines, with a focus on bulk lubricants
- Focus on all targeted accounts and generate sales from within the client base
- Emphasize product and service features and benefits, quote prices, discuss credit terms and prepare sales order forms and reports
- Ensure follow-ups are made by maintaining a call to action and accurate records (dates, profile information, sources)
- Generate and develop new customer accounts to increase revenue (e.g. make cold calls)
- Overcome objections of prospective customers in a tactful and respectful manner
- Resolve any problems and complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions and making recommendations (e.g. warranty problems, defects)
- Maintain professionalism, diplomacy and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner
- Actively manage schedule to cover assigned territories in a time-efficient manner
- Use marketing data to maximize sales efficiency and effectiveness
- Maintain accurate records, including sales call reports, expense reimbursement forms, billing invoices and other documentation
- Conduct ongoing research to build and maintain knowledge of new products, new services and competitor activities
- Build and foster a strong network of referrals to create new opportunities for revenue growth
- Have a strong understanding of the inventory and assist customers with managing their inventory
- Collaborate with all other departments as necessary to ensure that the lines are properly represented
- Maintain a positive relationship with customers, coworkers and other line representatives using strong communication skills, teamwork and leadership
- Understand and promote company programs
- Support APC stores if necessary (e.g. help pick, receive, ship, stock, organize and deliver parts)
- Travelling to different locations throughout Ontario and occasional overnight trips may be required.
- All other reasonable duties as assigned by the Supervisor and Management
Key Requirements and Experience
- Valid G Driver's License with a clean driving record and reliable personal vehicle required
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), data entry and web navigation
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the automotive parts industry or a related field to have an understanding of the automotive industry's trends
- Vehicle mechanical knowledge
- Significant knowledge of represented products
- Strong knowledge of sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques
- Strong communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
- Customer focus - Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers
- Professional demeanour, selling style and appearance

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to reliably work 40 to 44 hours per week
- Ability to lift and move 10 lbs. (4.5 kg) to 50 lbs. (22.7 kg) safely and consistently
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, twist, lift and bend regularly
