Operations & Fleet Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

Facility Opening & Morning Operations
 

  • Oversee and perform the daily opening of the facility, ensuring operational readiness.
  • Dispatch drivers using Elite routing software, updating routes or contacting drivers as needed.
  • Respond to vehicle or driver issues, including reloading, unloading, or rerouting trucks as needed.
  • Conduct vehicle checks and support troubleshooting; coordinate repairs and safety scheduling with leasing companies.
  • Move vehicles around the yard as needed for unloading and loading deliveries.


 

  • Operate a forklift to move products and or load a truck.
  • Serve as the company's point person for inventory investigations and verifications prior to 9:30 AM.
  • Support warehouse supervisory duties as needed throughout the day.


Supervision & Compliance
 

  • Maintain communication with drivers and monitor route progress.
  • Ensure drivers complete inspections, logbooks, and follow procedures.
  • Investigate accidents to determine root cause, speak with involved parties, and decide whether the incident requires reporting to the designated center.
  • Conduct periodic ride-alongs, logbook reviews, and provide performance feedback.
  • Discuss non-compliance and communication issues with drivers
  • Monitor fuel card usage for unusual activity.
  • Address recurring issues involving drivers, customers, or vendors with the operations team.
  • Review upcoming driver schedules and truck service needs.
  • Attend supervisor meetings and contribute to team discussion topics.
  • Complete a monthly ride-along and performance check-in with one driver.
  • Conduct monthly logbook reviews to ensure MTO compliance.


Inventory & Delivery Issue Resolution
 

  • Follow up with drivers when unreported orders or purchase orders appear in Elite, and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Investigate IBT variances and report root causes to relevant staff.
  • Verify inventory for Inside/Outside Sales teams and communicate findings.


Interdepartmental Communication & Collaboration
 

  • Collaborate with other supervisors and departments to address driver, customer, or vendor issues.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and promote a collaborative environment.
  • Foster collaborative and problem solving demeanor amongst departments.


Customer & Vendor Relations
 

  • Foster professional, solution-focused communication with customers and vendors.
  • Resolve customer concerns, address missed deliveries or order issues, and ensure accurate, timely responses.
  • Escalate unresolved vendor problems (e.g., shipping errors, packaging concerns, delays) to management.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers.


Other Duties
 

  • Perform additional tasks or special projects as assigned.


Mandatory Requirements
 

  • Must be commercially insurable.
  • Experience driving box trucks and operating forklifts (license or ability to obtain).
  • Familiarity with routing software and transport compliance (MTO, paper logbooks).
  • Mechanical aptitude to identify and respond to minor vehicle issues, for example, knowledge of how to boost a transport.
  • Technical aptitude to support Drivers with phone issues.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical work.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and general software tools.
  • Focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and team development.
  • Comfortable working independently in early hours and leading by example


Schedule: 

The hours of work for this position are 4:00 a.m to 12: 30p. m Monday to Friday, however, as this is a supervisory role, there may be times when you are required to work extra hours to ensure the work is complete. Additionally, during the year-end inventory process you will be required to work on Saturday and Sunday as needed.
