Job Summary:
Diagnoses and completes less complex repairs to generators and components at the customer's site.
We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in (Winnipeg, MB)
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Completing repair activities on generators or components
- Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner
- Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
- Maintain detailed records of service
- Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
- Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
- Maintain own tools
Responsibilities
In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.
- High Voltage / Low Voltage experience.
- Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision - hands on exposure to working on power generation products.
- Basic Diesel Engine experience.
- Proficient troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components.
- Able to perform repairs on ATS systems and able to perform commissioning on a new ATS installation.

About the Role
We are seeking a power generation technician to join our team. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a strong commitment to customer service.
The ideal candidate will be willing and able to:
- Work various shifts throughout the week, including after-hours calls and site visits.
- Travel via small aircraft to remote locations.
- Undertake trap line travel away from home for up to a week at a time.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, inspect, and maintain power generation equipment.
- Respond to customer needs promptly, including after-hours service calls.
- Assist with troubleshooting and repairs under supervision.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment performance and service activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Essential Skills & Requirements
- Safety-focused mindset and adherence to protocols
- Recent and relevant power generation technician experience and knowledge
- Strong customer care and communication skills
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
- Self-starter and lifelong learner
- Valid driver's license with clean abstract
- Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in a 24/7 after-hours call rotation
Asset Skills
- Mechanic's Red Seal Certification
- Millwright License
- Electrician's Red seal certification
- Possession of the Manitoba Limited Trade License - Generator (M-D)
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
Apprentice Certified Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Current relevant electrical certification
Locally valid driving permit
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Basic level field service work experience
Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with of power generation products
High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience
Customer service experience
