Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Location: Various Job Sites Throughout Yukon

About the Role:

Cobalt Construction Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction, is seeking a Red Seal Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our field operations team. In this role, you will keep construction equipment running smoothly on job sites, ensuring project uptime, worker safety, and operational efficiency.

This role is open to both contract and non contract mechanics. 

Key Responsibilities:
 

• Perform diagnostics and repairs on heavy construction equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, rock trucks, and compactors
• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime
• Respond to mechanical breakdowns on job sites promptly and safely
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company procedures
• Work independently or with other mechanics/operators as required

Qualifications & Requirements:
 

• Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician certification required (or journeyperson equivalent)
• Minimum 3 years' experience working with heavy construction equipment
• Strong understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, diesel engines, and mechanical diagnostics
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain
• Valid driver's licence; Class 3 or higher considered an asset
• Willingness to travel to remote job sites as needed
