Job description

Job Overview:

The workshop dispatcher is the orchestrator of mechanical production. Their primary role is to optimize workflow by assigning the right jobs to the right technicians, while ensuring that deadlines promised to customers are met. Acting as a vital link between the service counter and the workshop, they ensure the efficiency, profitability, and quality of the work performed.

Key Responsibilities:

- Workflow Management: Distribute repair orders (ROs) to technicians based on their expertise, skill level, and current workload.
- Productivity Optimization: Monitor work progress in real time and adjust priorities to ensure that billable hours are maximized.
- Quality and Timeline Control: Ensure vehicles are ready by the time agreed upon with the customer.
- Parts Tracking: Work with the parts department to ensure all necessary materials are available before assigning a task.
- System maintenance: Update the workshop management system (DMS) to reflect the actual status of work in progress.

Education and experience:

- Practical experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a Mechanic (solid technical skills) or as a Service Advisor (understanding of customer service and consultative sales).
- Major asset: Proficiency with CDK software.

Technical skills and abilities:

- In-depth knowledge of mechanics: Ability to accurately estimate the time required for each repair.
- Organizational skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a high-volume environment.
- Leadership and communication: Ability to lead a technical team with diplomacy and authority, while maintaining a positive work environment.
- Problem-solving: Ability to respond quickly to unforeseen issues (missing parts, incorrect diagnoses, emergencies).
