Controller Accountant

As our current Controller prepares for retirement, we are looking for an experienced Accounting Controller to play a key role within our administrative team.

Above all, we're looking for a hands-on professional who has a strong command of the full accounting cycle, enjoys analyzing financial data, resolving discrepancies and ensuring the accuracy of our financial information.

This planned transition will allow you to benefit from a training and mentorship period alongside our current Controller, giving you the opportunity to become familiar with our procedures and the specific operations of our dealership.

Your Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the General Manager, your responsibilities will include:

- Manage the dealership's full accounting cycle;
- Prepare journal entries, adjustments and accruals as required;
- Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations;
- Complete month-end closings and prepare monthly financial statements;
- Monitor and reconcile control accounts, accounts receivable and accounts payable;
- Verify the accuracy of new vehicle, pre-owned vehicle and parts inventory accounts;
- Identify, analyze and correct accounting discrepancies;
- Monitor inventory financing and transactions specific to automotive dealerships;
- Ensure the accuracy of accounting information received from the Sales, Service and Parts Departments;
- Oversee government remittances and ongoing tax obligations;
- Prepare year-end documentation for external accountants;
- Supervise and support the administrative team in applying sound accounting practices;
- Contribute to improving accounting processes and internal controls.

Ideal Candidate:

- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including significant experience managing the full accounting cycle;
- Experience in an automotive dealership is strongly preferred;
- Accounting education (DEC, bachelor's degree or equivalent experience);
- Strong knowledge of account reconciliations, adjusting entries and month-end closings;
- Knowledge of SERTI / Keyloop software is a significant asset;
- Good proficiency in Excel;
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities and meet deadlines;
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
