Automotive Buyer

An opportunity to play a key role in our growth!

Groupe Deragon is looking for a dynamic and strategic Automotive Buyer with excellent negotiation skills.

Your mission will be to contribute directly to the growth of our pre-owned vehicles department by sourcing and purchasing the right vehicles, at the right price and at the right time.

You will work across Groupe Deragon, including with the teams at Deragon Ford and Deragon Honda. You will collaborate closely with Sales Managers and the General Manager to maintain a diverse, profitable inventory that meets the needs of our customers.

Your main responsibilities:

- Actively source pre-owned vehicles from private sellers, dealers, dealerships, auctions and various online platforms;
- Contact owners who have listed their vehicles online;
- Develop a network of suppliers and partners within the automotive market;
- Assess the market value of vehicles based on their condition, history, mileage and current market conditions;
- Analyze market data to identify in-demand models and the best purchasing opportunities;
- Inspect vehicles or coordinate inspections prior to purchase;
- Review vehicle history reports, declarations, ownership documents and other relevant information;
- Negotiate purchase terms while respecting the Group’s profitability objectives;
- Present purchasing opportunities to the appropriate managers and obtain the required approvals;
- Coordinate transportation and take possession of purchased vehicles;
- Ensure thorough follow-up on acquired vehicles until they arrive in inventory;
- Participate in inventory management and recommend purchases based on the needs of each dealership;
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, costs and results;
- Track performance indicators, including number of vehicles purchased, average acquisition cost, potential margin, inventory turnover time and return on acquired vehicles;
- Represent Groupe Deragon professionally with sellers and partners.

Profile we’re looking for:

- Experience in the automotive industry, ideally in pre-owned vehicle purchasing, appraisal, sales or inventory management;
- Excellent knowledge of the pre-owned vehicle market;
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to close transactions;
- Ability to quickly build trusting relationships;
- Strong business judgment and decision-making skills;
- Ability to analyze pricing, market trends and resale potential;
- Independent, proactive and results-oriented;
- Strong organizational skills and thorough follow-up;
- Comfortable using computer tools and automotive platforms;
- Fluency in French;
- Ability to communicate in English with certain English-speaking customers and partners;
- Valid driver’s licence;
- Occasional availability to travel.
