Workshop Manager - Auto Body Repair and Dent Removal

Our client, a well-established family-owned company in the automotive industry, is looking for a Shop Manager for its auto body and collision repair division. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, supervise a team of technicians, plan and monitor work, and ensure quality, productivity and deadlines are maintained. Your expertise in damage estimating will also be essential, as you will serve as the go-to person for more complex files and be able to handle this aspect of the operation when required.

Responsibilities:

- Plan daily and weekly shop work based on priorities, deadlines and team capacity;
- Assign work to technicians and closely monitor repair progress;
- Supervise, support and motivate the team to help achieve performance objectives;
- Participate in daily meetings and ensure proper follow-up with the various stakeholders;
- Monitor shop performance indicators and recommend solutions to improve productivity and operational profitability;
- Perform quality control checks at various stages of the repair process and inspect vehicles before delivery;
- Prepare damage estimates and handle appraisal files when required;
- Manage the follow-up, communication and documentation required for files involving insurance companies;
- Handle more complex or disputed files involving customers, insurers or customer satisfaction issues;
- Ensure all required parts are available before repairs begin and collaborate with those responsible for procurement;
- Oversee the organization and movement of vehicles within the shop;
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment and ensure shop equipment is operating properly;
- Participate in the continuous improvement of work methods and optimization of processes;
- Contribute to certain human resources activities, including interviews, performance evaluations and vacation planning;
- Participate in shop operations when necessary to support the team and ensure continuity of work;
- Perform any other related duties.

Requirements:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in auto body repair, collision repair and automotive painting;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a shop supervision or management role, including managing a team of specialized technicians;
- Excellent knowledge of the complete collision repair process, from damage assessment through vehicle delivery;
- Experience in damage estimating, claims management and working with insurance companies;
- Ability to independently manage appraisal files;
- Good knowledge of automotive parts, repair costs and procurement processes;
- Proficiency with collision estimating and management software such as Mitchell, Qapter, NexeraSys or similar platforms;
- Experience monitoring performance indicators and improving shop operations;
- Excellent customer service, communication and conflict-resolution skills;
- Comfortable working both on the shop floor and in an office environment;
- Excellent command of spoken and written French.
