Auto Body Technician – Frame Straightening Specialist

Education and experience:
- DVS in Auto Body Repair;
- Welding certification is an asset;
- Training in the use of a frame straightening machine;
- 10 years of experience in a similar role.
Specific knowledge and skills:
- Good understanding of French and ability to communicate with customers verbally and in writing;
- Proven experience as an Auto Body Technician;
- Proficiency in dent repair and welding techniques, as well as the use of hand and power tools;
- In-depth knowledge of procedures for replacing body, glass and interior components;
- Ability to test and ensure the proper performance of repaired equipment;
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver precise, high-quality work;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines;
- Knowledge of automotive painting is an asset.
Position summary:
Under the supervision of the Body Shop Manager, the Auto Body Technician works to restore the structural integrity, original appearance and functionality of customers’ accident-damaged vehicles. The Technician provides professional, high-quality service, ensuring customers receive their vehicles in a condition comparable to that of a new vehicle. The Body Repair Technician uses hand and power tools to remove or repair damaged parts, performs welding as required and precisely installs new parts.
Requirements for the position:
To be considered for this position, the candidate must:
- Have relevant experience as a Body Repair Technician or in a similar role;
- Hold a valid driver’s licence;
- Have extensive knowledge of automotive body repair and body shop tools.
Responsibilities:
- Review damage reports, repair orders and estimates to plan the work to be performed;
- Remove dents, buckles and other imperfections using blocks and hammers;
- Remove and replace damaged parts such as fenders, panels, grilles and other components;
- Straighten bent frames using frame pulling and anchoring equipment;
- Use a frame straightening machine to restore the frame to original specifications;
- File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools;
- Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs;
- Test the performance of repaired equipment and ensure compliance with restoration and repair quality standards to reduce and eliminate rework and warranty claims;
- Maintain detailed and accurate reports and stay up to date with technological developments;
- Maintain a clean and safe work area;
- Perform any other duties requested by the Supervisor.
