Shuttle & Fleet Operations Support - Prince George
Location: Prince George, BC, with travel to Kwadacha, Tsay Keh Dene, South Hazelton, and other locations as required
Employment Type: Part-Time / Casual
Hourly Rate: $21 - $25 CAD

Position Overview
Gitxsan Safety Services is seeking a reliable, experienced, and safety-focused Shuttle Driver & Fleet Operations Support team member based in Prince George, BC.
The primary responsibility of this position is to safely transport nursing personnel between Prince George and the remote communities of Kwadacha and Tsay Keh Dene. Travel involves extended driving on highways, Forest Service Roads (FSRs), gravel roads, and remote access roads in varying weather and road conditions.
The regular shuttle schedule is primarily Thursdays and Fridays each week. During colder months and periods of poor flying weather, additional shuttle support may be required on Mondays and Tuesdays when scheduled flights are unable to operate due to weather or other conditions.
The successful candidate will also provide part-time operational support for the Gitxsan Prince George Yard, including vehicle coordination, pickups and deliveries, errands, fleet support, and other general operational duties. Occasional travel to the South Hazelton Yard and other company, client, service, or project locations may be required.
Camp accommodations are provided when overnight stays are required as part of a shuttle assignment.

Key Responsibilities
Shuttle Driving
• Safely transport nurses and other authorized personnel between Prince George, Kwadacha, Tsay Keh Dene, and other approved locations as required.
• Operate company vehicles safely on highways, rural roads, Forest Service Roads, gravel roads, and remote access roads.
• Drive safely in changing and challenging conditions, including snow, ice, rain, reduced visibility, and winter road conditions.
• Adjust driving practices according to road, traffic, visibility, and weather conditions.
• Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report deficiencies or concerns.
• Ensure assigned vehicles are clean, fueled, appropriately equipped, and ready for travel.
• Follow company journey management, check-in, working-alone, fatigue management, and safe-driving requirements.
• Maintain regular communication with Dispatch/Operations and immediately communicate delays, changing road conditions, mechanical concerns, or other issues affecting the trip.
• Utilize the company-provided Starlink system in the shuttle vehicle to support communication and connectivity during remote travel where cellular service may be limited or unavailable.
• Ensure passengers are transported safely, professionally, and respectfully.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when transporting healthcare personnel.
• Stay in designated camp or other company-arranged accommodations when overnight travel is required.
Prince George Yard & Operations Support
• Pick up and deliver equipment, supplies, PPE, parts, documents, and other company items.
• Transport company trucks and equipment to and from dealerships, repair facilities, tire shops, service providers, company yards, and other locations.
• Assist with vehicle servicing and maintenance coordination, including dropping off and picking up vehicles.
• Help ensure vehicles are fueled, cleaned, stocked, and ready for deployment.
• Assist with the organization and general upkeep of the Prince George Yard.
• Receive or coordinate pickups and deliveries as required.
• Complete local errands and operational runs within Prince George and surrounding areas.
• Support Fleet, Logistics/Dispatch, Administration, and Operations with local tasks as assigned.
• Assist with basic inventory, equipment organization, and vehicle readiness.
• Report vehicle, equipment, yard, or facility concerns to the appropriate department.
• Perform other reasonable operational support duties as assigned.
Additional Travel & Operational Support
• Deliver or retrieve company trucks, equipment, supplies, or other assets between the Prince George and South Hazelton yards.
• Transport vehicles to or from company yards, dealerships, repair facilities, service providers, or project locations.
• Pick up replacement vehicles or equipment and return them to Prince George or another designated location.
• Assist with vehicle transfers required for maintenance, repairs, project mobilizations, or fleet reallocation.
• Transport supplies, PPE, parts, documents, or other company materials between locations.
• Support Fleet and Operations with vehicle or equipment movements throughout northern BC as required.
• Complete other company-related travel and operational errands as assigned.
Travel outside of Prince George may occasionally require extended driving hours or an overnight stay. All travel will be completed in accordance with company journey management, fatigue management, safe-driving, and applicable hours-of-work requirements.
Required Qualifications
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence in good standing.
• Satisfactory driver's abstract.
• Must remain eligible and insurable to operate company vehicles under company insurance requirements.
• Demonstrated experience driving on Forest Service Roads, gravel roads, and remote resource roads.
• Demonstrated experience driving safely in winter and adverse weather conditions.
• Strong understanding of defensive driving and safe vehicle operation.
• Comfortable travelling significant distances and working in remote locations.
• Able to stay overnight in camp accommodations when required.
• Able to work the regular Thursday/Friday shuttle schedule and provide additional availability when required.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with limited direct supervision.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable using mobile phones, GPS/navigation equipment, Starlink, and company communication/check-in systems.
• Able to maintain professional conduct and confidentiality when transporting clients and healthcare personnel.
• Able to meet company and client/site safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience transporting workers, healthcare personnel, or other passengers in remote areas.
• Previous experience working in forestry, construction, mining, pipeline, environmental, healthcare support, or other resource-sector environments.
• Familiarity with northern BC and remote road networks.
• Experience with vehicle or fleet coordination.
• Experience completing basic vehicle inspections and identifying maintenance concerns.
• First Aid certification.
• Experience working around remote camps or Indigenous communities.
Schedule & Work Conditions
This is a part-time/casual position with a combination of scheduled and as-needed work.
The regular nurse shuttle schedule is expected to occur primarily on Thursdays and Fridays each week.
During colder months, additional Monday and Tuesday shuttle work may be required when weather conditions prevent scheduled flights from operating. Some additional assignments may be arranged with limited notice.
Additional part-time hours may be available throughout the week to support the Prince George Yard, Fleet, Logistics, and general company operations. This may include occasional travel to South Hazelton or other company, client, service, or project locations as operationally required.

Safety Expectations
• Follow all Gitxsan Safety Services policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Complete required pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Participate in company journey management and check-in procedures.
• Use company-provided communication equipment, including Starlink, as required during remote travel.
• Immediately report unsafe road or weather conditions, vehicle deficiencies, incidents, near misses, or other safety concerns.
• Never operate a vehicle when fatigued or otherwise unfit for duty.
• Stop or delay travel when conditions cannot be safely managed and communicate the situation to Dispatch/Operations.
• Comply with posted road requirements, radio protocols, client requirements, and applicable provincial regulations.
• Wear required PPE when entering yards, shops, project sites, or other designated work areas.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a dependable and experienced driver who is comfortable travelling independently in remote northern BC conditions. You understand that passenger and driver safety take priority over maintaining a schedule and are confident making appropriate decisions when road or weather conditions change.
You are also flexible, organized, and willing to assist with day-to-day operational needs in Prince George and at other company locations. This position is well suited to someone looking for consistent part-time driving work combined with additional casual hours supporting fleet, yard, and operational activities.
