Journeyman Automotive Technician

Position Summary:

As a member of the Service Team, the Fleet & Equipment ServiceTechnician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, andupkeep of company fleet vehicles, and small-engine-powered tools. Thisincludes, but is not limited to, service vehicles, plumbing equipment, draincleaning machines, plumbing augers, pumps, generators, pressure washers, andother small-engine tools and equipment used by field technicians.

The Service Technician ensures equipment is safe, reliable, properlymaintained, and ready for daily use. This position will diagnose mechanical andequipment issues, complete preventative maintenance and repairs, maintainservice records, and support the field team by minimizing equipment downtime.

Key Accountabilities:
• Performs preventative maintenance,inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on company fleet vehicles and serviceequipment.
• Maintains and repairs a variety ofplumbing-related equipment and small-engine tools, including:

o Plumbingaugers and drain cleaning machines.

o Sewerand drain inspection equipment.

o Pumpsand water transfer equipment.

o Generators.

o Pressurewashers.

o Smallengines and related power equipment.

o Hand-operatedpower tools and other equipment used by field technicians.
• Diagnoses mechanical and equipment problems,determines the cause of failures, and identifies the appropriate repair orreplacement solution.
• Performs routine inspections and preventativemaintenance to identify potential problems before equipment failure occurs.
• Maintains company fleet vehicles, includingservice vans and trucks, and assists with basic mechanical maintenance andrepairs as required.
• Ensures fleet vehicles and equipment areproperly stocked, organized, clean, and ready for use.
• Maintains accurate records of inspections,maintenance, repairs, parts used, and equipment history.
• Coordinates with suppliers and serviceproviders when specialized repairs or parts are required.
• Monitors inventory of commonly requiredparts, tools, and equipment and communicates when replacements or additionalsupplies are required.
• Tests repaired equipment to ensure it isoperating safely and effectively before returning it to service.
• Keeps the shop, storage areas, vehicles,tools, and equipment clean, organized, and maintained.
• Communicates equipment issues and maintenancerequirements to management and field technicians in a timely manner.
• Assists with maintaining and improvingpreventative maintenance schedules to reduce equipment downtime and unexpectedfailures.
• Ensures all tools and equipment are usedappropriately and maintained according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Maintains confidentiality and security ofcompany, customer, and employee information.
• Follows all company Health & Safetypolicies and procedures and reports hazards, incidents, and near misses.
• Supports field technicians by responding tourgent equipment needs and helping ensure they have the tools and equipmentrequired to complete their work.

Qualifications &Experience:
• Journeyman Certified Automotive Service Technician with Red Seal. 
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in fleet maintenance, small-enginerepair, mechanical repair, equipment maintenance, or a related field.
• Experience working with plumbing equipment, drain cleaning equipment, orsmall-engine-powered tools is considered an asset.
• Automotive, heavy-duty mechanic, small-engine technician, or relatedtrade experience is considered an asset. 

Required Certifications and/orDocumentation:
• ValidClass 5 Alberta Driver's Licence and Drive's Abstract
• CriminalRecord Check

Expected Skills and Attributes:
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Working knowledge of fleet vehicles, small engines, mechanical systems,and power equipment.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and determine appropriate repairmethods.
• Experience working with plumbing augers, drain machines, pumps,generators, pressure washers, and similar equipment is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to prioritize repairs based on urgency and operationalrequirements.
• Strong work ethic and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to equipmentissues in a timely manner.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with fieldtechnicians, management, and suppliers.
• Basic computer skills, including the ability to use email, Word, Excel,and equipment/service tracking systems.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Working Conditions
• Work is primarily performed in the warehouse, withoccasional work at field locations.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching,kneeling, reaching, and working in awkward positions.
• Exposure to dirt, oil, grease, fuel, cleaningproducts, dust, noise, and other mechanical and shop-related conditions.
• May occasionally require working outdoors and invarying weather conditions.
• Some travel between company locations or fieldsites may be required.
• May require occasional evening, weekend, orafter-hours work to address urgent fleet or equipment issues.
• Ability to safely lift and carry tools, equipment,and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Must follow all applicable workplace safetyrequirements when working with vehicles, small engines, power tools, electricalequipment, fuels, and mechanical systems.
