Job description

Recognized as the 2019 and 2022 Canadian Automotive Dealers Association (CADA) Laureate Award Winner for Business Innovation and one of Canada's Best Employers for Recent Graduates for 2022, Destination Honda Burnaby is looking for an Assistant Sales Manager who is ready to take the next step in their automotive career.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly adaptable, guest-focused sales professional who thrives in a multifaceted, fast-paced environment within a growing automotive company. As an Assistant Sales Manager, you will play an active floor management role, working closely with both our guests and our sales professionals to ensure every customer is properly welcomed, guided, and supported through our sales process. You will help manage the daily rhythm of the sales floor, oversee activity inside DealerSocket, promote and confirm appointments, support follow-up, and provide coaching and training where needed to help our team succeed.

In addition, you will be responsible for supporting our pre-owned vehicle acquisition strategy by purchasing vehicles based on weekly targets and helping guide those vehicles through the reconditioning process so they are prepared for retail sale in a timely and professional manner.

It's Different Here - What We Can Provide for You:

  • Comprehensive internal sales foundation training program.
  • A competitive compensation plan.
  • Enhanced group health benefits program.
  • A friendly, respectful, collaborative environment that supports your success.
  • Employee recognition, celebration, and company culture events.
  • Long-term and accelerated career opportunities within a growing automotive group.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Actively manage the sales floor to ensure every guest is properly guided through our sales process.
  • Support Guest Advisors by coaching, training, and reinforcing best practices throughout the customer journey.
  • Engage directly with guests to provide a concierge-style purchasing experience that is warm, inviting, professional, and helpful.
  • Work closely with sales professionals to ensure follow-up, appointments, and customer commitments are completed with urgency and care.
  • Monitor and manage Guest Advisor lead pipelines using DealerSocket CRM tools.
  • Promote, confirm, and support appointment-setting activity to help drive traffic into the dealership.
  • Perform daily manager follow-up phone calls with guests.
  • Present purchase options to guests in a clear, professional, and customer-focused manner.
  • Lead daily, weekly, and monthly training efforts for Guest Advisors.
  • Identify opportunities for coaching and development through CRM activity, guest interactions, and sales process execution.
  • Purchase pre-owned vehicles in alignment with weekly acquisition targets.
  • Help guide purchased pre-owned vehicles through the reconditioning process, working with internal teams to support timely retail readiness.
  • Monitor the progress of pre-owned inventory from acquisition through reconditioning and frontline availability.
  • Promote new business and contribute to the company's customer base and referral network.
  • Maintain a strong focus on the customer experience and actively pursue high CXI results.
  • Develop expert knowledge of our products, accessories, programs, and sales process.
  • Full training will be provided.

What We Need From You:

  • The ability to welcome our guests to the dealership as if it were your own home.
  • Previous automotive experience is required.
  • Previous client support or customer-facing experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and create business opportunities.
  • A strong passion for customer service. You enjoy speaking with guests, identifying their needs, and creating a positive customer experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Professional, composed, and effective in negotiation and guest-facing conversations.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using DealerSocket or another automotive CRM is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience purchasing or appraising pre-owned vehicles is considered an asset.
  • Valid VSA License preferred but not mandatory.
