Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus and South Campus, Edmonton.

This position is responsible for the comprehensive servicing and repair of the University of Alberta's owned vehicles. This encompasses a diverse range of units, including passenger cars, vans, hybrid vehicles, buses, trailers and trucks, ranging from Class 1 to Class 7. Essential duties also include the execution of commercial vehicle inspections, the procurement of necessary parts, the management of work orders, and the provision of technical guidance to supervisors, colleagues, and other University staff.

Responsibilities

 

  • Diagnose, analyze, troubleshoot, repair and test vehicle systems.
  • Specialized repair, replacements and adjustments.
  • Shop operations, inventory and customer relations.


Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma and current Red Seal Journeyman Automotive Technician license.
  • Possession of Commercial Vehicle Inspection certification for buses and trailers.
  • Minimum Class 4 license with Air Endorsement, Class 2 preferred.
  • Minimum six years experience in the repair and maintenance of a diverse range of vehicles including cars, SUV's, light to medium duty trucks, trailers and commercial buses.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • A strong commitment to safety practices.
