Shop Foreman (dispatch)

Your role:

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Shop Forman is responsible for the efficient allocation of work in the shop. You will ensure that work orders are assigned to the right technicians based on their skills, workload, and the day’s priorities, in order to ensure excellent customer service, on-time completion, and optimal productivity.

Responsibilities:

- Assign work orders to technicians based on their expertise and availability;
- Prioritize work based on appointments, emergencies, and deadlines promised to customers;
- Continuously monitor the progress of work in the shop;
- Adjust task assignments based on unforeseen events and changes in priority;
- Work closely with technical advisors, the parts department, and service management;
- Ensure downtime is minimized and workshop efficiency is maximized;
- Ensure technicians properly log their work;
- Help resolve bottlenecks related to parts, deadlines, or workload;
- Contribute to maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards.

Profile:

- Experience in a mechanic workshop or at an auto dealership;
- Good understanding of how a service department operates;
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills;
- Good understanding of automotive mechanics;
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
- Team player with strong communication skills;
- Sense of urgency, attention to detail, and ability to work independently;
- Knowledge of a dealership management system is a plus.
