We are currently seeking a Service Manager to lead the operations of the service department and ensure optimal workshop performance.
Job description:
The Service Manager is responsible for the overall management of the service department, including workshop supervision, staff management, operations planning, monitoring performance metrics, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
The ideal candidate has solid experience in workshop management (heavy-duty truck experience is a major asset), natural leadership skills, and a results-oriented approach.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the daily operations of the service department;
- Manage the team (mechanics, technical advisors, clerks, technicians, etc.);
- Plan the workload and maximize workshop efficiency;
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and manage complex cases;
- Monitor the department’s profitability (billable hours, productivity, margins);
- Oversee warranty claims and ensure compliance with Hino and Cummins procedures;
- Implement continuous improvement processes;
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards;
- Collaborate with the parts, sales, and general management departments;
- Train, mentor, and develop the team to achieve set objectives.
Requirements:
- Experience in mechanical service management (heavy-duty trucks or commercial vehicles is a plus);
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of team management experience in a workshop environment;
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills;
- Good understanding of diagnostic, repair, and maintenance processes;
- Ability to manage priorities and perform under pressure;
- Performance management skills;
- Knowledge of dealership management software (an asset);
- Valid driver’s licence;
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
