Overview

Working as anAutomation Technicianyou will be reporting to our Maintenance Team, a group of Skilled Trade professionals. You will play a vital role in supporting production within our Just-In-Time lean manufacturing environment. Responsibilities:

By working in a Just-In-Time Environment - our Team must be flexible and willing to adapt to changing work priorities, while understating and maintaining a safe work environment. It is vital that we demonstrate respect for Team Members on all levels and working as a cross-functional team have open lines of communication.

 

  • Maintaining backup information of SCADA, PLCs and Robots
  • Maintain a documented weekly summary of completed work.
  • Integration work for new equipment
  • Troubleshooting new and used control strategies.
  • Perform small amounts of control wiring on in-house equipment
  • Report any manpower and disciplinary actions to the department's supervisor.
  • Provide technical advice & assistance to maintenance personnel, contractors etc.
  • Assist in developing procedures and standard maintenance practices
  • Paint & Injection Robot integration using Fanuc, Kawasaki, Motoman and Star.
  • Setup and maintain Ethernet and I/O networks.
  • Electrical design for in-house projects.
  • Work within a Just-in-Time Environment with a sense of urgency to maintain the plants equipment and continually improve our current processes while preventing downtime enabling production to meet targets
  • Support the paint & injection specialists during new and upgrade installations.
  • Work in a safe manner and maintain 5S.
  • Attends daily Start of Shift and End of Shift meetings for proper handover of shifts.
  • Follow ALL policies and procedures, including all policies and procedures set out by Health and Safety.
  • Conduct other duties as business needs require
  • You will be required to work Overtime

  • 5 Years relevant mechanical and/or electrical qualifications (minimum trade or possible Associate Diploma in the Robotics and Automation field)
  • Experience with SCADA and PLC Programming is essential
  • Having OACETT certification would be an asset.
  • Be able to fluently read and write English and able to communicate well with others.
  • Ability to communicate with skilled trades at all levels of experience and management
  • Ability to exercise balanced judgment in evaluation situations and making decisions
  • Must be willing to work Overtime when needed
