Apprentice Mechanic-Level One - $42.68Position Summary:
The City is currently seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined individual to join the Public Works department as a 310T Truck & Coach Apprentice Mechanic. Under supervision, the successful candidate will assist the Lead Hand Mechanic in diagnosing mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and completing repairs on trucks, heavy equipment and municipal fleet vehicles. The apprentice will also participate in required apprenticeship training and complete the necessary hours and schooling toward achieving a 310T Truck & Coach Technician certification. 
Position Requirements:
 

  • 310S Automotive Technician License in good standing with the Ontario College of Trades preferred.
  • Registered as a 310T Truck & Coach Technician Apprentice with the Skilled Trades Ontario, or eligible to register.
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's license (Class DZ license considered an asset)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and other relevant software applications.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with a proven focus on service delivery.
  • Must provide own mechanical tools as required.
  • The successful applicant will be required to obtain and submit a clean criminal record check and driver's abstract, prior to start date at candidate's expense.
