We are seeking a road inspector specializing in vehicle inspections to train our agents—a key role where your technical expertise and willingness to share knowledge will be a true asset to safety for everyone.
- Perform duties as a peace officer, in accordance with applicable powers and responsibilities;
- Train agents and their staff in road vehicle inspections to impart the knowledge necessary for performing their duties;
- Recommend training and actions to ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and contractual requirements, such as the Regulation respecting road vehicle safety standards (RNSVR) and the Highway Safety Code (CSR), as well as with their contractual obligations and the SAAQ’s administrative directives;
- Review applications for recognition of preventive maintenance programs (PEP) to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements by analyzing:
Mechanical maintenance records;
The mechanical condition of vehicles;
Facilities;
Staff competencies;
- Answer questions from agents, conduct research and document analysis, and follow up;
- Participate in the handling of complaints and reports by inspecting road vehicles, analyzing documents, and gathering relevant information;
- Draft reports summarizing interventions and observations made, and formulate recommendations on corrective or improvement measures.
The qualities and skills we are looking for:
- Demonstrate autonomy in carrying out duties;
- Exercise excellent judgment in decision-making to ensure agents comply with regulatory and contractual obligations and administrative directives;
- Communicate effectively and negotiate professionally to address complaints related to agents’ work;
- Convey information in a clear, structured manner appropriate for the trainees.
Job requirements:
- Hold a high school diploma equivalent to Grade 11 or Grade 5 of high school recognized by the competent authority, or a certificate of relevant studies whose equivalence is recognized by the competent authority;
- Have five years of experience in the field of heavy vehicle mechanics;
- Have a command of French appropriate to the duties;
- Hold a Class 5 driver’s license;
- Meet the requirements of the civilian security screening program;
- Be a Canadian citizen (in accordance with section 115 of the Police Act);
- Pass a medical examination demonstrating that the individual is fit to perform the duties of a road inspector in mechanical inspection.
