Job description
SMS Equipment is currently recruiting Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technicians for our growing Timmins branch. In this role, you'll apply your technical expertise to inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain off-road heavy equipment, supporting reliable operations for our customers. Base Wage: $54.48 per hour + premiums*
Location: Timmins ON
Schedule: Various schedules are currently available:
- 5x2 (local): Work Monday to Friday for 8 hours per day. Enjoy a consistent weekday schedule with evenings and weekends free.
- 7x7 (local): Work 7 days on for 12 hours per day, then enjoy 7 days off. Includes eligibility for a compressed work week premium.*
- 14x14 (remote): Work 14 days on for 12 hours per, then enjoy 14 days off. Includes eligibility for a compressed work week premium*, along with travel and accommodations.
*Premiums include market and compressed work week on 7x7 and 14x14 schedules bringing rate to approximately $60.16 per hour. Additional assignment-based premiums and allowances may apply.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on construction equipment
- Perform overhauls, maintenance, and new equipment builds
- Troubleshoot issues using computerized and manual diagnostic tools
- Work independently in remote field settings, including adverse weather and confined spaces
- Follow safety protocols and contribute to continuous improvement in safe work practices
- Lift up to 50 lbs as required by the role
What You Bring
- Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification
- Strong diagnostic skills and mechanical aptitude
- Experience working with Komatsu equipment is an asset
- Interprovincial Red Seal certification is an asset
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and willingness to travel
- Self-motivated and safety-focused with experience working independently in field conditions
