This position is part of the Strategy, Planning & Performance team in the Director's Office of Fleet & Inventory. As a Business Strategist, you will be part of a team of professionals delivering consultative services to Fleet & Inventory. You will provide comprehensive strategic planning expertise and delivery, enabling the business unit to meet its strategic mandate aligned with Council direction. You will plan and manage priority projects, advance continuous improvement initiatives, and navigate complex and emerging issues. Primary duties include:
- Develop strategies, plans, policies, and frameworks for priority business objectives in collaboration with cross-functional teams within Fleet & Inventory, Corporate teams, and our internal customers.
- Lead or support strategic projects from initiation through to completion balancing constraints to achieve project and strategic objectives.
- Develop incremental and sustainable improvements to business systems and processes to increase organizational efficiency and effectiveness, while enhancing innovation and adaptability of service delivery.
- Facilitate discussions with senior leaders, front-line supervisors, and employees to plan for and respond to emerging business issues and strategic challenges.
- Make strategic recommendations to senior leaders, identify opportunities and trends, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and realize efficiencies.
- Conduct financial research and analysis to support senior leaders to make informed decisions.
Qualifications
- A degree in Business, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field and at least 5 years of related experience in strategic planning, change management, business and process improvement, business and financial analysis, and implementation of business and strategic concepts.
- Experience facilitating discussions with various levels of leadership, leading projects, developing strategies and performance metrics, and writing reports for various audiences.
- Ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects in a fast-paced, dynamic, and political environment, collaborating across diverse partner groups.
- Success in this position requires: strong research, synthesis, and analysis skills, critical-thinking and problem-solving, collaboration, business and political acumen, ability to support people and processes through change, and strong customer focus.

Workstyle
- This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $48.54 - 64.88 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
