As a Fleet Attendant, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to facilitate the movement of buses within an assigned garage. Primary duties include:
- Perform minor repairs and adjustments to Transit vehicles.
- Start buses to ensure buses commence route on time.
- Change-off a defective bus with an operating bus on the road or to tow a defective bus into the garage if unsafe to operate.
- Ferry vehicles within and between garages to ensure commitments are achieved.
- Carry out minor clean up of vehicles returning from the shop or storage and perform general shop duties such as restocking containers and streaming parts.
- Provide relief for farebox pull or dispatches to storage barn as required.
- Operate basic hand tools and equipment, business, tow trucks and check lane.
Qualifications
- Completion of some grade 10 courses such as English and Math.
- Previous experience in the operation servicing and maintenance of motorized equipment is required.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with 3 or less demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
- Applicants must be able to obtain a valid air brake 'Q' endorsement.
- Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
- Work experience using basic hand tools and shop equipment is a strong asset.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or exposure to vehicle systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.
- Proven reliability and punctuality in shift work.
Working Conditions: This position works in a garage environment which can include exposure to vehicle fumes, heavy equipment, noise and dust. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment that includes working in tight awkward positions, lifting, crouching and bending. Some work may be completed in a variety of weather conditions.
Pre-employment Requirements
- A security clearance will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
Pre-employment Drug Test: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test . This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
